Manchester United target warned he will be “disgraced” if he accept Old Trafford transfer
One Manchester United transfer target has been warned against being “disgraced” should he move to Rúben Amorim’s Old Trafford squad this summer.
Manchester United are aiming to bolster their attack as Rúben Amorim’s team struggle to find consistency in front of goal.
The season has exposed United’s scoring difficulties, with the team rarely managing more than a single goal per game. Their underwhelming form at Old Trafford has only added to the mounting concerns.
Speculation around the futures of key attackers such as Joshua Zirkzee, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho has further complicated matters. As a result, reinforcing the forward line has become a top priority for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Though United face financial pressures, Amorim is likely to press the board to secure the attacking talent needed to revitalise the team and address their lack of clinical edge.
Osimhen sent harsh United transfer warning
One forward United have been linked to is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray following a fall out with the Serie A club’s board members.
Osimhen has a release clause of around £68 million in his current contract, and Amorim is said to be a fan of the player as United weigh up a move, although the Nigerian international has now been warned against the deal.
Serhat Ulureren, a prominent Turkish football journalist, has spoken out about Osimhen, criticising Napoli’s valuation of the 26-year-old and warning him that if he moves to United, he will be “disgraced” for his performances.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi via AllNigeriaSoccer, Ulureren said: “Victor Osimhen is overrated in my opinion. He is never a €50-60 million striker. He is a good centre-forward but not a good striker.”
Ulureren went on to explain that he feels Osimhen is not as good as their other striker option, Mauro Icardi, and that he is not worth the cash that Napoli are demanding.
“Osimhen cannot meet Galatasaray’s needs as much as Mauro Icardi. He wears down the opposition defence, creates confusion, creates space for his teammates, but he is not a player worth that money.
“Let him go to the Premier League, play for Manchester United, he will be disgraced.”
United must look within before they sign a new striker
Although United will almost certainly sign a new striker this summer, the club must look within the team to increase their output before they can recruit fresh talent.
This a sentiment Bruno Fernandes agrees with. Speaking to Sky Sports, the club captain explained that he feels almost all attacking players and midfielders are able to contribute with more goals for the second half of this season.
“I know we have a lot of young players in front but we have qualities and we have to score goals because Rasmus [Højlund] is capable of scoring goals. Josh is capable, Amad is capable.
“Garnacho, Rashy, Antony, me and even the midfielders that sometimes play a bit deeper like Kobbie [Mainoo] or Manu [Ugarte] or Casa [Casemiro] or Christian [Eriksen], they’re all players with goals in them.”
