Manchester United target responds to Bruno Fernandes praise and leaves door open for transfer

One Manchester United transfer target has responded to praise from Bruno Fernandes ahead of a potential transfer to Old Trafford.

The Reds are looking to strengthen their midfield group in the summer with the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely to depart.

It is likely that any signing in the engine room will partner with Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.

Morten Hjulmand has been linked with an Old Trafford move in recent months. The defensive midfielder impressed at Sporting Lisbon over the course of last season.

That led to praise from United captain and former Sporting star Fernandes, who claimed that he ‘loved’ the midfielders at his old club.

“It’s always great to receive praise from other big profiles,” Hjulmand explained when asked about the praise, as per MEN.

“I know he’s a former Sporting player, and he’s still a big fan of the club, so it’s great to know he’s still watching. It can only make me happy to receive praise from a player like him.”

Hjulmand is the type of midfielder United are eager to sign this summer, and it is likely that they will test the waters with an offer despite Sporting being keen to keep the midfielder they signed only a year ago.

However, the 24-year-old has left the door open for a move and suggested that playing in the Premier League is a ‘dream’ for him.

“I’d say that it is a destination I could see myself going to in the future,” he added. “Whether it’s a dream, I don’t know. But it is a goal for me to play in the Premier League one day.”
