Manchester United “strongly considering” move for 6ft 7in striker, he can offer a new dimension for Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have reportedly started sending scouts out to Italy to make regular checks of gigantic striker target.

With Ruben Amorim‘s side struggling for firepower, this summer will most definitely see Sir Jim Ratcliffe turn his attentions to the strikers available in the transfer window.

As United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, it is no secret that strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have fell short of the mark in goal contributions.

These strikers have made 29 and 24 appearances respectively in this Premier League campaign, yet have only tallied three goals each, and one assist between the pair.

This below-par return of seven goal contributions in 53 league appearances has left United higher-ups scrambling for solutions, which has recently seen the inclusion of youth star Chido Obi.

United target Lucca can offer Amorim new dimension

With reports from Tuttmercatoweb stating that United are strongly considering an offer for Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca, the Italian man mountain could certainly offer a new dimension to United’s lacklustre firepower.

Per the report, Udinese are asking for an offer of €35m (£29.3m) for the 24-year-old who has hit the back of the net 12 times in 31 appearances this season.

This transfer could be a cheaper alternative to the bigger names in the market such as Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, and Victor Osimhen, which will be music to the ears of the savvy Red Devils’ owners.

By going for the 6ft 7in talisman, Amorim’s side will have a spearhead for their 3-4-3 set up. This system is so dependant on its four wide players, so having someone to get on the end of crosses, such as Lucca, is a must.

Also on this topic, by going for a cheaper alternative, United will have more money available to target their other problem areas, such as on the wings and at wing-back.

How does Lucca’s cost compare to other strikers?

Coming in on the cheaper side, Lucca’s fee barely even compares to the fees expected for a modern, young striker.

There has been plenty of rumours circulating the players mentioned prior, as well as other names like Hugo Etikite and Benjamin Sesko.

Contrasting Lucca’s fee, if Gyokeres is to link up with his former manager, this would cost a reported fee of £62.7m. with fees for Ekitike, Sesko, and Osimhen all believed to be in a similar region.

An even more luxury target, that is a lot more difficult to imagine, is Isak, as Newcastle will be demanding a much steeper fee believed to be north of £100m.
