Manchester United star’s representatives left ‘surprised’ by recent links, they’ve already fielded a different offer

Manchester United are still concentrating on offloading several other players as Rúben Amorim wants to raise funds for a new midfielder.

Manchester United have spent even bigger this summer than most people were expecting. Earlier in the year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed that without intervention, the club would have gone bust by Christmas, leading many people to believe that United would have a quiet transfer window.

However, Ruben Amorim has been massively supported with the club bringing in Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, with a potential midfielder also on the way amid links to Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

They have funded this through a combination of income from sell-on clauses, revolving credit facilities and speculative incomings from impending player sales.

Players like Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho look set to leave the club in the near future, which may allow United to spend even more. However, one player that they would like to move on has had some of his reported interests dismissed as nothing but a rumour.

Celtic’s Malacia links are unfounded

According to Dutch journalist Josst Blaauwhof, sources around Tyrell Malacia are “surprised” by reports of a transfer to Celtic. Malacia was one of the five players excluded from team training as the club attempted to move them on. The other players excluded were Antony, Marcus Rashford, Sancho and Garnacho.

Blaauwhof has shared that there has been no contact whatsoever from Scotland, but he did confirm that the Saudi Arabian bid for Malacia is real.

Current reports around Celtic indicate that the club is looking to bring in three more players this transfer window, four if they qualify for the Champions League. The three known positions that they are trying to recruit are a winger, a striker and a centre-back.

It also appears likely that the fourth Celtic signing will be a midfielder, given their reported interest in West Ham’s Andy Irving. This makes it seem unlikely that Celtic will sign a left back, and certainly no evidence that the left back would be Malacia.

Malacia’s next club

Presently, it looks like Malacia’s next club will be in Saudi Arabia. There have been multiple reports suggesting that there is interest from the Saudi Pro League, but it is uncertain which of the clubs there has registered an interest in him.

Malacia spent the back half of last season on loan at PSV, where he made 12 Appearances. The Dutch side had the option to trigger a buy clause in his loan contract that was worth £8.5 million, but they declined to do so.

Malacia’s terrible knee injury has likely deterred a lot of potential suitors, given that he was forced to miss 500 days of football and 70 of United’s matches.

It makes sense that a more cash-rich suitor, such as the one from the Saudi Pro League, would be more willing to take a gamble on Malacia, given his injury history, as the repercussions of a failed investment would be less consequential for them.
