“I trust them…” – Manchester United star publicly backs agency after controversy
One Manchester United player has publicly backed his agency after they found themselves involved in a major controversy.
Victor Lindelöf’s future at Manchester United is not yet known. He joined the club under Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2017.
The defender is now focused on international duty with Sweden ahead of Euro 2024 but has taken time to address the speculation surrounding the agency that represents him.
According to Sport Witness, the controversy surrounding the agency, led by agent Hasan Cetinkaya, has brought attention to their clients, including Lindelöf.
A report last year alleged that Cetinkaya and his agency might have connections to organised crime, a claim he has vehemently denied. He has even stated that he intends to report the media outlets responsible to the Media Ombudsman for defamation.
Many players who are represented by the agency have shown public support on social media over the last 12 months, but Liundelof has refrained from doing so.
The United defender is one of their most high-profile clients, alongside Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
However, the 29-year-old has now come out and supported his agents and explained the reason why he has decided against public support on social media before this point.
“I know that there is some kind of process going on right now. I will not comment on it. It continues to be handled,” he told Fotboll Skanalen.
“We have worked for many years, and they have helped me on many levels. I trust them 110%. That’s where I stand.
“I’m not very good at Instagram. That is the reason. Of course I talk to them, for me it’s more important than posting something on social media.”
