One of Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United men has reportedly been offered to Real Madrid amid Xabi Alonso’s injury struggles.
Manchester United look to be getting back on track as they recently beat a struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 away from home thanks to stellar performances from Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount.
Ruben Amorim’s side took an early lead thanks to their captain Fernandes who managed to beat Sam Johnstone in goal despite slipping in the process.
A shock equaliser from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde gave Wolves some hope heading into halftime, but goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Mount and a Fernandes Penalty in the second half quickly put hopes of Wolves’ first win of the season to bed.
This puts the Red Devils on 25 points sat in 6th place in the Premier League as they look to secure their spot in the Champions League. However, the January transfer window may prove to be busy for United with Spanish giants, Real Madrid, appearing to look for defensive replacements.
One name has occurred as a potential winter signing for Xabi Alonso’s side as they look to get back on top of the La Liga table.
Maguire offered to Madrid in January
According to Defensa Central, Militao’s recent injury in their 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo could force Real to look for a replacement in January.
It is believed that Los Blancos have “received numerous offers in recent hours” to strengthen their side again whilst they suffer with injuries. Harry Maguire is a name that has come up within these offers.
The 32-year-old has turned his career around after he was stripped of the captain’s armband at Old Trafford. Despite the criticism, Maguire has gone the extra mile to be a crucial part of United’s squad recently.
The centre-half has proven to be crucial in both the defence and attack, scoring crucial goals for United, most notably the winning goals against Lyon in the Europa League last season and against Liverpool at Anfield this season.
United remain open to offering Maguire a new deal on the basis of having a lower wage, as Ineos are keen on reducing the money spent on wages at the club.
Madrid reluctant to aging signings
At 32 years old, Maguire is reportedly available for a region of £8.5 million in January as he comes towards the end of his contract.
However, Real Madrid have seen their recent defensive recruits arrive on the younger side, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and former Red Alvaro Carreras recently arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real are reluctant to sign ageing players and, for now, are not actively pursuing Maguire; however, with the recent strong performances of Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven, Maguire’s position in the team may not be as concrete as previously thought.
Heaven impressed on Monday evening against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with his display signalling a possible changing of the guard in the coming months regarding Amorim’s favoured choices, reducing his need for Maguire.
United are reportedly considering their options to replace Maguire, with Crystal Palace’s Mark Guehi as a potential option. His contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of this season, so he could be available as a free agent.
