Manchester United are open to doing business for most of their players in the January transfer window and Real Madrid have been sniffing around.

Ruben Amorim has faced a challenging start to his tenure at Manchester United, with only five wins in 13 matches.

This has shown the need for reinforcements in the transfer window, with a left-wingback being a top priority for the Portuguese boss.

However, it has been well-reported that the club need to raise funds through player sales to make space any new signings in January.

Various players have been linked with exits this month, including the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Diogo Dalot.

Dalot likely to stay at United after Real Madrid update

According to a report from TalkSPORT, Real Madrid are increasingly confident of securing the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool at the end of the season.

It was explained that the English right-back has verbally agreed to the move but has not yet communicated his decision to Liverpool.

This development now makes it much less likely that Madrid will try and sign Dalot from United, who was seen as a backup to Alexander-Arnold.

Prior reports suggested that an offer worth between £40-50 million for the Portuguese defender may have came in from Spain.

But now it seems like Dalot will remain at Old Trafford and continue to work with Amorim in his new system.

Dalot adjusting to life under Amorim at United

Dalot has not had a brilliant start to life under Amorim as he has been filling in at left wingback, where he does not look entirely comfortable.

He was shown a red card during the latest game against Arsenal, which means that he will be unavailable against Southampton in the Premier League.

However, Dalot has been one of the most consistent players at United in the last 18 months and played more than almost anyone else in the squad.

During an injury filled season last term, he was one of the only ever-presents in the team and still managed to produce solid performances.

In the new system this season, the defender is still getting used to the different roles and responsibilities while also starting almost every game.

Dalot will hope that once he returns from suspension, he can find the form which saw him win the club’s Player of the Year award last campaign.
