One Manchester United star is “expected to leave” the club with two potential options, says Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United have had a shaky start to the new season, managing just one Premier League win in their first three matches.

Following a last-minute defeat to Brighton the previous weekend, they suffered a tough 3-0 loss to rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

Although their opening victory against Fulham offered some positive signs, Erik ten Hag’s side clearly has plenty of room for improvement.

Casemiro, in particular, faced heavy criticism for his performance against Liverpool, where he was substituted at halftime after being responsible for two goals in the first half.

Since his successful debut campaign at Old Trafford, the Brazilian has been underwhelming, and the club was open to selling him in the summer.

While no permanent offers came in for the 32-year-old, there were reports this week about a potential loan to Galatasaray.

Speaking on the situation, Fabrizio Romano has explained that Casemiro will stay at United for the start of the season.

However, the journalist admitted that he expects the former Real Madrid man to depart the club either in the January transfer window or next summer.

“It was not an easy beginning of the season for Casemiro. A poor game against Liverpool can happen, but Erik Ten Hag decided to back him and support him after the game, saying that he’s a serial winner and a top professional and that he’s going to be back at the top level,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“So Man United are supporting Casemiro [but] it is not a secret that Man United were open to selling Casemiro this summer.

“They tried to find a solution, the agent of Casemiro and Man United, but then there was never a concrete proposal on the table to make both Casemiro and Manchester United ready to make a deal happen and sell Casemiro.

“Now we had rumours about Galatasaray for Casemiro, the Turkish market is still open and Galatasaray are always very active, but what I am told is that, in this moment, the clear message is that Casemiro is going nowhere.

“Because Manchester United already sold Scott McTominay to Napoli and there is one intention to lose one more midfielder.

“The idea is very clear: continue together at least until January, could be June, and then the expectation I have is for Casemiro to leave Manchester United in 2025.

“We will see if it’s going to be January or if it’s going to be in the summer, but the idea is to part ways with Casemiro probably at the end of the season; it will depend on opportunities, but not now, for sure.”
