Manchester United star “could leave” this summer despite being “happy”, says Fabrizio Romano
According to reports, Manchester United could see one of their senior players leave this summer despite his general intentions to stay.
Manchester United are trying to raise as much cash as they can this summer as INEOS look to inject a plethora of fresh faces into Erik ten Hag‘s side for the 2024/25 campaign.
Having already signed Joshua Zirkzee for a fee of around £36 million from Bologna, the club are in discussions for centre-backs Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro while they are also deliberating a third bid for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Discussions have also been held about signing 23-year-old midfielder Manual Ugarte from Paris St. Germain, but reports on that front have gone somewhat quiet over the last week or so.
However, with United wanting to sign multiple new defenders this summer, exits are needed, and the club has already seen the transfer of Willy Kambwala out of Old Trafford. The French 19-year-old has joined Villareal in a deal worth up to £10 million.
But, in a new update, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that senior player and former captain Harry Maguire could leave this summer if an acceptable bid comes in. However, he also reiterated that the club are not “desperate” to sell him.
“The situation is quiet regarding Harry Maguire now. No changes,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside.
“Maguire remains happy at Man United, and they’re not desperate to sell him. If a good proposal arrives, he could leave in case he wants to.
“Otherwise, they’d continue together as happened this season. Nothing is concrete now in terms of talks or negotiations.”
Maguire was almost subject to a £30 million move to West Ham last summer, but the deal fell apart due to personal terms. His current deal expires in 2025, but the club can extend it until 2026 to retain his value.
The 31-year-old recently returned to Carrington training to complete individual sessions after he missed the end of United’s season and England’s 2024 European Championships through injury.
