One Manchester United star is attracting interest from as many as seven different clubs as he looks to gain more playing time with a move away.
Ahead of this summer’s busy transfer window, many players look to be on the chopping block at Manchester United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team aspire to buy into Ruben Amorim’s system.
It could be a ruthless summer at the club, with many big names being rumoured with an exit from Old Trafford.
Currently sitting in a dismal 14th in the Premier League, the Red Devil’s are ten points adrift from the top half of the table, which has made a summer overhaul seem increasingly necessary.
United will be hoping for Europa League success in the coming weeks to allow for more lucrative player signings in the summer, but nonetheless, there’s sure to be a lot of movement at the club.
Seven clubs interested in United defender
One of the United names that is set for a move away is defender Victor Lindelof, whose contract is up in the summer, making him a free agent. Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Swede is not expected to be offered new terms.
According to CaughtOffside, the 30-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from as many as seven different clubs ahead of his contract expiry, with four Premier League clubs after his signature.
Fulham, Everton, West Ham, and Wolves have all been in contact regarding a potential free transfer for Lindelof this summer, whose priority is understood to be staying in England.
Despite his willingness to stay in England, there is also reported interest abroad, with Juventus, Inter Milan and former club Benfica all showing interest in the Swede as well.
The out of favour United star has played just shy of 800 minutes across all competitions this season, as he has been plagued by injuries for a lot of the campaign. Almost half of these minutes have came in the last six league fixtures however, achieving three full 90-minute appearances in this time.
Lindelof heading towards the exit
Despite Amorim having to turn towards Lindelof in recent weeks due to his squad’s injury crisis, this looks to only be a temporary solution as the Swede prepares for an exit from United.
Amorim will be eager to make plenty of changes to his struggling squad this summer, as he aims to take them back to the top. Letting Lindelof go could help to free up some much needed space in the wage bill within his lacklustre side.
When fit, Lindelof sits far down the pecking order, with the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, and even recently 18-year-old Ayden Heaven all being more favourable to Amorim.
With an exit now looking beyond question, United will surely wish their long-serving Swede well in his future, but it is still unknown whether he will join a fellow English club or if he will move abroad.
