Manchester United’s stance on Joshua Zirkzee’s huge agent fees has been revealed as a deal to Old Trafford looks possible this summer.

Zirkzee, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks. His Bologna contract has a release clause of £34 million.

United are in desperate need of an additional centre-forward to support Rasmus Højlund, and it appears that Zirkzee could be that player.

However, there is one major concern from the outside in relation to this deal. The forward’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, is reportedly demanding over £10 million in agency fees in any deal for the player.

This is something that has concerned AC Milan, who were close to agreeing a deal for Zirkzee before United entered the picture. The Serie A side do not want to pay that extra cash.

Fabrizio Romano has clarified that United are open and able to pay the agent’s fees despite their tight financial situation.

In fact, the Italian reporter explains that United are able to complete the deal at any moment, but that internal discussions are ongoing about whether it’s the best move.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano detailed: “We always said that AC Milan has this problem with the commission to the agent.

“So this remains the situation. Milan are still not giving the green light to the big commission asked by the agent of the player.”

He added: “Manchester United remain in direct communication with the agent of the player. There is an internal discussion in Manchester United because, basically, Man United would have no problem paying the salary, the commission, and the contract length.

“The release clause is also fine for them. 40 million euros is something they can do. The budget for the striker is also more than that. So Manchester United can do the deal for Joshua Zirkzee at any moment.

“It’s about an internal discussion now to decide whether they want to proceed or not. But Zirkzee, for sure, is one of the players they want. They’ve been considering him for weeks. And now they have to decide whether they really want to complete this deal.”
