Manchester United have entered the race for an African star tearing up the Danish League, with competition from Saudi Arabia.
Manchester United have seen major changes in their attacking line since the beginning of Rúben Amorim’s time as manager, with the Portuguese manager heavily investing in more proven profiles.
The summer of 2025 saw Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško all arrive at Old Trafford as United looked to bounce back from their disappointing 2024/25 season, finishing 15th in the Premier League.
The summer also saw fans say goodbye to a plethora of United forwards as Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund all departed.
With question marks over the future of Joshua Zirkzee, the club are looking to recruit a replacement, and they may have found their man in a highly rated African star who looks set to break the transfer record for the Danish League.
However, United do face competition from some European giants and clubs from Saudi Arabia.
United show interest in Franculino
While United are looking for proven players, they are also searching for more promising young players. Patrick Dorgu joined the club last January, and United may have found another youngster who could make an immediate impact on the senior side.
According to Tipsbladet, Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju has caught the attention of many clubs, including United, who may be looking to further strengthen their forward line.
The striker from Guinea-Bissau has been in incredible form this season, tallying 14 goals and three assists in the Superligaen this season including a run of ten goals in eight consecutive games.
The 21-year-old has also caught the attention of many top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, AS Roma and Everton. But the biggest competition comes from Saudi Arabia, where a bid of £26 million has been made for the striker.
Midtjylland aim for a summer sale at around £30 million, which would see Franculino become the most expensive sale in the history of the Superligaen.
Agents pushing for winter move
With Zirkzee struggling to cement himself in Amorim’s squad, an exit for the big Dutchman is certainly on the cards as Serie A clubs have expressed interest.
Meanwhile, both Franculino and Midtjylland are favouring a summer move for the African. But the player’s agents are pushing for a move in the January transfer window.
The Danish club will look to keep their star striker as they aim to claim the top spot in the Danish top flight, with them currently sitting two points away from the top spot.

United have shown interest in many strikers as question marks remain over how active the club will be in the January transfer window.
The young striker’s brilliant form could carry him into the coming windows with many watchful eyes over his status, as friction between the club and Franculino’s agents may be growing.
