Manchester United have set their asking price for Rasmus Højlund this summer as three Serie A sides reportedly consider bidding for Rúben Amorim’s striker.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Ruben Amorim will be looking for some adjustments to his squad, with it being likely that Manchester United could see a few major departures.
One of the departments that could see the most rejigging is the attacking department, which has been an area of concern for Amorim throughout his six months in the job.
The Red Devils have only managed to score 38 goals so far in the Premier League, which is on track to be a record low for the side. Their fewest in a single season prior to this was 49 in the 2015/16 season.
Bruno Fernandes has been Amorim’s only consistent goal threat throughout his tenure so far, with only he and Alejandro Garnacho hitting double figures for goals this season.
United set Højlund transfer price
With all this being said, it could be a possibility that the young Rasmus Højlund finds a new club this summer, with his first two seasons as a Red not going in the way that many expected them to.
According to sources at CaughtOffside, the Red Devils could be open to the departure of their misfiring Dane, and an asking price of £55.7 million has been put on Højlund’s head.
It’s fair to say that during the Danish striker’s two-year spell in Manchester, he has failed to set the world alight. Højlund has only managed to muster a below-par tally of 13 Premier League goals in 57 games.
Despite the 22-year-old’s misfortunes in England, he was very highly rated during his time in Italy. This could help him to get a move away from the club, with a return to the Serie A looking a likely destination.
This same source also reported that Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli are all considering a move for the United frontman.
Changes to Amorim’s attack on the horizon?
If United could recoup a large amount of their reported £72 million transfer fee for Højlund this summer, then it would be a huge bonus to Amorim, and it could give him the financial freedom needed to bolster his attack this summer.
It has been widely reported in the build-up to this summer that Amorim will be after a new striker, with names such as Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Matheus Cunha being thrown around quite regularly.
United are also said to be very keen on signing Liam Delap this summer, with the Ipswich Town striker set to cost just £30 million due to a relegation-triggered release clause in his contract.
An attacking revamp could be just what Amorim needs to get his side to climb up the table, which I’m sure they’ll be desperate to do as they won’t want any repeats of this season.
