Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow as a wonderkid forward is seemingly headed to a French giant after interest from Old Trafford.
Compared to the last two seasons, Manchester United’s attack seems to be bearing a lot more fruit than before.
Summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have hit the ground running, while Mason Mount and Amad are growing as the season progresses.
Despite this, the striker area appears to be a problem. Despite not having the goals to back it up, Benjamin Šeško’s linkup seems to be getting better. However, following an injury in the 2-2 draw against Spurs, Rúben Amorim has confirmed the Slovenian has sustained a knee injury.
Joshua Zirkzee has had very few minutes so far this season, and with Šeško’s injury, he is the only first-team striker left. With AFCON approaching and Mbeumo and Amad leaving for it, United must bring in some depth in the forward areas.
Lyon closing in on loan move for Endrick
Endrick has almost become a forgotten wonderkid while sitting on the bench for Real Madrid.
After bursting on the scene as a 16-year-old for Palmeiras, the Brazilian is looking for a short-term move away from the Spanish capital to get much-needed minutes.
United have been touted as one such option. The deal would have made a lot of sense for the Red Devils. He isn’t just a young player that fits the youth, courage and success ethos, but the loan deal would be a low-risk financial option for the club.
However, it appears his future does not lie in the north west of England but instead in the southeast of France.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo, Lyon is close to finalising a move with Real Madrid that will see Endrick move on a short-term loan. The young Brazilian wanted assurances of a leading role at the club, and he has been given that.
Alternatives to Endrick
United could look to the academy to solve the striker hole. Chido Obi is the main name that will come to mind, having already made a few first-team appearances last season.
While it is risky promoting a youngster when United need quality players to fill in the gaps, this has been the story for many academy graduates. Most recently, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, who both capitalised on injuries within the club and became first-team regulars afterwards.

Should Amorim want someone with more Premier League experience, Ivan Toney could be another loan option until the season.
With reports also linking the England International with Spurs and Chelsea, there will be a lot of competition for his signature, but he has the nous and experience to bring goals to the club, not to mention a good relationship with Mbeumo.
