Manchester United have seen their young Brazilian attacking target’s price drop from €20m in desperate fire sale to avoid collapse
Manchester United may find their chances greater in their pursuit to sign attacking reinforcements as a huge price cut falls in their favour for a young Brazilian star.
Ruben Amorim spent big in the summer bringing him Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to add to the threat of their attacking line.
However, the same window saw many outgoings, including Rasmus Hojlund, Antony and Jadon Sancho, leaving a gap for further squad depth, especially if United aim to secure their place in the Champions League again.
United have sent scouts out to the Brazilian league, a goldmine for young talents in football, and one particular name seems to be up for sale with the club desperate to sell.
United see major price cut for Ricardo Mathias
United have had recent success recruiting Brazilians, with Cunha and Casemiro proving to be pivotal factors of the squad in their times at Old Trafford.
Their most recent searches have led scouts to spot Ricardo Mathias as a potential signing with a lot of potential at his current side, Internacional, who are in the middle of a financial struggled may deforced to sell.
According to local reports, the Brazilian side initially valued Mathias at €20m and rejected €13m bid from Al Nassr to sign the 19-year-old, as well as holding off interest of a short term loan from clubs such as Goztepe.
With the clubs financial situation up in the air, the young forward has now been valued at €7m, giving United a much more desired price tag and a far lower risk factor of investment.
Low-risk signings are suited for United
United have seen a growth in the amount of smaller signings of young talents recently. Notable examples include Diego Leon and Ayden Heaven both signing for smaller fees, therefore feeling much less pressure on their shoulders when they wear a United shirt.
Mathias has began to find confidence again for his side after a tough goalless run. The teenager scored twice in Inter’s last four fixtures as he tries to lift his side out of the relegation zone. But the pressure of so many eyes can become overwhelming for players at times.
Overall, Mathias has totalled six goals in 2025 securing call ups to Brazil’s U20 squad, where he scored one goal and provided one assist in only two games.

Brazil’s rich history of producing young talents can put a lot of expectation of Mathias if he were to move to Old Trafford, however with the company of fellow Brazilians, Cunha and Casemiro, it could be a smooth process for a small risk signing.
