Manchester United are looking to bolster their attacking threat by bringing in a Premier League proven forward in the Summer.
The 2024/25 season has been a difficult one for Manchester United especially in terms of attacking threat where they have only managed 37 goals. This leaves Ruben Amorim’s side 15th in the Premier League for goals scored.
Amorim will be hoping to increase his attacking depth with an already thin attack facing departures with permanent exits looking likely for Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony.
Recent weeks have seen United linked with a number of prominent forward options indicating it as an area they will be active in during the transfer window.
United one of several teams scouting Bournemouth’s Semenyo
After breaking his best season goal contribution record with seven games left to play, Antoine Semenyo has attracted attention from a number of Premier League sides, including United.
Miguel Delaney with the Independent has reported that Arsenal and Liverpool are also scouting the 25-year old alongside the Reds but “he is not he is not on the top of those clubs’ lists in the position” but all three “see him as a strong option for the summer.”
Bournemouth’s asking price is rumoured to be in excess of £50 million which may an issue for a cash strapped United who are in need of several new players. If Semenyo was to go for this price he would only be the second Bournemouth departure ever to exceed £50 million along with Dominic Solanke.
Despite wide interest in the Ghanan international his absence from the top of most teams lists could see United avoid a bidding war if they went for him.
Semenyo would reinforce one of United’s weakest positions
Semenyo has featured predominantly on the left side of the Cherries attack this season where currently only Alejandro Garnacho prefers playing.
With a Rashford exit looking likely it will be important for Amorim that Garnacho has competition as the Argentinian has only managed five goal involvements in 29 league appearances this season.
Although both Garnacho and Semenyo have similar shot conversion rates, 5.9% and 6.2% respectively, the latter takes a lot more shots leading to a goal on average every five games.

United need to strengthen this position as well as their attack as a whole and are clearly scouting Andoni Iraola’s versatile attacking options in order to restore the clubs Champions League status.
Semenyo has Premier League experience and has improved his output every season since joining Bournemouth. He would make an exciting acquisition at Old Trafford.
