Manchester United ‘rule out’ signing two other strikers after Alexander Isak stance revealed

Manchester United have ruled out signing three strikers this summer after their stance on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak was revealed.

Manchester United have signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha so far this summer to bolster their attacking options but are still missing a no.9.

Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both found major difficulties at Old Trafford since their respective arrivals and it has been widely reported that Ruben Amorim wants an improved option.

The transfer window has been full of twists and turns so far this summer and the latest major development came on Thursday as it was revealed that Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle this summer.

Isak, 25, scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season and is viewed as one of the best strikers in Europe and this news got a lot of fans of different clubs excited about the prospect of their team pushing for a move.

United ‘rule out’ signing two other strikers after Isak

Despite some initial fanfare from United supporters, it was quickly revealed by multiple reporters that United will not attempt to sign Isak this summer.

The Swedish striker would likely cost around £150 million and the Reds have already spent the majority of their budget on Cunha and Mbeumo.

Reports from MailSport have also explained that United have ruled out moves for Benjamin Sesko and Nicolas Jackson alongside Isak due to their expensive price-tags.

This follows on from claims that Aston Villa are unwilling to sell Ollie Watkins and that United could begin the Premier League season without a new centre-forward in their ranks.

United’s options are getting very limited

Isak was never a realistic possibility for United this summer, but the frustrating thing is that it should be. United are doing well in the market but a lot of other clubs are strengthening too.

The most worrying part seems to be that options are beginning to get very limited if players like Sesko and Jackson are also deemed too expensive.

United do not necessarily need a world-beating striker to improve their attack but they also shouldn’t be looking at someone like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, just because he’s been in the Premier League.

If they do enter next season without a new striker, United better be working behind the scenes on a big deal for a midfielder, because at least one of those positions needs a major upgrade.
