Former Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is wanted permanently by Spanish giants Barcelona, but the fee is currently up for discussion.
Marcus Rashford has spent the season on loan at Spanish giants Barcelona and is seeking a permanent move to Catalunya in the summer.
Rashford moved from Manchester United in January last season to join Aston Villa on loan, and then returned to the Reds in the summer before being shipped out the door to Barcelona.
His relationship with Ruben Amorim ultimately led to his demise, despite starting well against Ipswich in Amorim’s first game, scoring in a 1-1 draw away from home.
Amorim exiled Rashford from the squad soon after, and he was listed for loan subsequently. His loan to Barcelona has an optional future fee, which is set; however, Barcelona is looking to renegotiate that fee.
United won’t budge
Ever since his loan move to Barcelona, United have been explicit on the set fee demanded to secure the permanent signing of Rashford.
The National has reported that Barcelona is looking to renegotiate, in the hopes of bringing down the initial €30 million fee.
Barcelona has faced some hardships in recent times, both financially and on the pitch. With inconsistent results and various horrendous transfers throughout the years, the Catalonian side has finally found a purple patch under world-class manager Hansi Flick.
The potential to represent Barcelona, one of the world’s most historic clubs, excites players, Rashford included. He has started well, recording 13 goals and assists in 21 matches, and has regained a place in the England set-up.
That said, Barcelona’s form of late has not been perfect; El Culers have lost twice in one week recently, being bested by struggling side Girona this week 2-1.
With struggling form and a pile of debt, Barcelona are looking to make as much money as they possibly can, which may be the reason they are asking to renegotiate.
Who would replace Rashford?
The National has also reported that rumours of Michael Carrick wanting Rashford back at the end of his loan spell are false, which holds some validity as the interim manager has not been offered a place at the club next season.
But if the Englishman does leave permanently, then United will have to act quickly to replace him and bolster the already improved attack.
Reports that the club are intersted in Senegalese Premier League talent Illiman Ndiaye are circulating, but Everton is asking for around £70 million, which seems extortionate.

The club need are direct winger on the left side to complement Matheus Cunha’s weaknesses. A player like PSG’s Bradley Barcola fits the mould, but the French giants would likely ask for a huge fee as well.
Yan Diomande and Karim Adeyemi are players also rumoured to be on the club’s radar, both young and physical wingers who hold a lot of value, and would be a like-for-like replacement for the soon departed Rashford.
