Manchester United released a statement about their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest as several fixtures have been cancelled due to Storm Darragh.

Ruben Amorim is set to take charge of his fifth Manchester United fixture this evening against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The Reds have won two of his opening four games, losing once and drawing the other.

However, there have been concerns that they game will not go ahead due to the impacts of Storm Darragh.

The Government sent emergency alerts to people across the United Kingdom on Friday night if they were in a ‘red zone’ to warn about extreme wind conditions.

Since then, the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton has been cancelled due to winds of up to 70mph and severe weather conditions presenting a risk to safety. Many other Football League fixtures have also been rearranged.

Following concerns that the same could happen in United’s home clash with Forest, the club have issued a statement claiming that the game is planned to go ahead as things stand.

“Today’s Premier League fixture at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest is scheduled to go ahead as planned,” the statement read.

“The club will continue to consult the relevant authorities throughout the day and will update supporters immediately if anything changes.

“We understand that fan travel will be disrupted by the weather so this fixture will not be included in the minimum number of games a season that season tickets must be used.”

This is a developing story. More to follow.
