Manchester United are set to add even more exciting prospects to their squad going into a vital summer transfer window.
When Sir Jim Ratcliffe took over at Manchester United in February 2024, one of the key factors that INEOS emphasised was nurturing youth players to become regular starters at Old Trafford, rather than spending big on already-experienced players.
We’ve already seen this in effect, with players such as Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Patrick Chinazaepere Dorgu, and Ayden Heaven all coming through the door during INEOS’ tenure.
With these players all showing immense talent, and already breaking into the starting 11, it looks like United are yet again set to make moves for promising talent going into the summer transfer window.
With Ruben Amorim having very little to spend this summer, this strategy could prove to be important, as he looks to completely overhaul his current squad.
United in for talented Middlesbrough duo
With United already being linked with exciting Championship prospects such as Jobe Bellingham, they are now linked with twin wonderkids Anton and Bailey Palmer.
As reported by United In Focus, Graeme Bailey said: “United have an interest in signing the Palmer twins, who are two youngsters from Middlesbrough. Anton and Bailey, two midfielders. They are both 16, with neither yet on a pro deal.
“Bailey is more attacking, both have Adidas deals, and they’re very highly rated within the club. The pair were both on the bench together for the first team’s 2-1 win over Plymouth but didn’t get on.”
Chelsea are also interested in the duo, but with neither of them having pro deals and summer departures looking increasingly likely, United could have the upper hand for a potential signing of the duo. Michael Carrick being at the helm at Middlesbrough could also help.
Do United need more experienced players?
It’s already been well established that a number of aging players are set to leave Old Trafford with players such as, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen all touted to leave this summer.
While it’s always admirable to play the youth and nurture your own players to become key figures at your club, United can’t just go all in on the youth without also signing experienced players.
Players who already have good experience playing Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system is critical for United to succeed, rather than wasting yet another season to try and embed all these new players into the starting 11, and having another very disappointing season.
With the prospect of Champions League football next season if United triumph in the Europa League final, United will be looking to have a decent run in the Champions League, owing to the large amounts of prize money that clubs get.
