Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris St. Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer amid issues with his contract.
Manchester United are turning their attention to outgoings as Rúben Amorim begins a full-scale rebuild of his squad at Old Trafford this summer.
The club have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and are in continued negotiations with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, after a £45 million offer plus £10 million in add-ons was rejected.
United remain in the market for a new striker and midfielder, and could also look to bring in a goalkeeper if André Onana moves on.
Several players will leave when their contracts expire at the end of the month, and more departures are expected as the overhaul gathers pace.
United interested in signing Donnarumma
With Onana failing to impress at Old Trafford since his arrival in 2023, United are open to signing a new goalkeeper this summer if the Cameroon international chooses to depart.
Although Onana has had his good spells at Old Trafford, he has too often had periods where he has been undeniably poor, and the 29-year-old is not a fan favourite.
According to the French outlet L’Equipe, amid the fact that Gianluigi Donnarumma has not signed a new deal with Paris St. Germain despite his contract expiring next summer, United have firmly inserted themselves in the race for his transfer.
Although contract extension talks with PSG have been taking place for several months, it is reported that Donnarumma privately feels as if the Parisian side have not been fully supporting him and committed to keeping him at the club.
Donnarumma’s thoughts on Premier League move revealed
The Italian international and Champions League-winning hero is reportedly being tempted by a move to England, amid interest from United and their noisy neighbours, Man City, to the point that talks surrounding a potential move to the Premier League have been held.
Donnarumma is undoubtedly a world-class goalkeeper, and at 26 years of age, he is still in the prime of his football career.

The Italian international has been in professional football for almost a decade, having made his debut with AC Milan at the age of 16. It has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout his career.
He currently earns a little over £200,000 a week at PSG, and if he were to enter into talks with any new club, it’s expected that he would demand a deal in excess of this.
With United looking to reduce their wage bill, this may become a tricky deal for Amorim’s side to navigate, as Onana is reportedly on a deal worth around £100,000 a week.
