Manchester United have been handed a potential advantage in the race to sign a £75 million star, but Arsenal are also showing interest in a move.
Manchester United have heavily invested in strengthening their attacking line in the summer of 2025 after an underwhelming 2024/25 season.
Rúben Amorim spent big on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško in the hopes of seeing an improved front line in replacement of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, who all made a move away from Old Trafford in the summer.
But there are still gaps in the squad that need to be filled. United have been searching for the right profiles to reinforce their offensive threat, with doubts over how suitable United’s strikers, Šeško and Joshua Zirkzee, are to Amorim’s system.
The club have received a huge boost in their pursuit of a potential £75 million signing to add to the attack, but would also have to hold off interest from Arsenal.
Adeyemi wants Premier League move
German striker Karim Adeyemi arrived at Borussia Dortmund in 2022, quickly establishing himself as one of the most threatening strikers in the Bundesliga with his explosive pace and eye for goal. But the striker sees a move to the Premier League as a serious consideration, as per Fichajes.
The 23-year-old has already secured ten goal contributions in 21 games for Dortmund this season, alongside Guinean goalscorer Serhou Guirassy, forming a formidable partnership in Germany.
Dortmund are aware of Adeyemi’s talent and have set the price for the forward of £75 million, a fee which has caught the eye of many European giants, including United.
Adeyemi offers great versatility with his confidence operating as both a lone striker as well as a left-sided forward, with his direct approach to games being a huge threat to defenders. The physicality of the Premier League is a driving factor in the German’s interest for a move.
With injury to Šeško, and AFCON taking away Mbeumo and Amad, Adeyemi could be the solution to operate in United’s system.
United set for Adeyemi competition
With United currently sitting on 18 points in 10th place, recruitment is definitely required to climb the table again, but Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal may prove to be a more stable project for Adeyemi to join.
The Gunners are sitting comfortably in top spot in the Premier League, despite question marks over who their strongest left-sided attacker is. Gabriel Martinelli has proven to be a threat against tired legs as he has shown against the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard has found a good run of form, adding more goal contributions to his name, yet neither has cemented themselves as Arteta’s definite option.

Adeyemi may favour a move to North London over Manchester for a more guaranteed position in the team, especially ahead of the 2026 World Cup, where he will want to prove himself in the Germany squad ahead of the likes of Nick Woltemade, who currently leads the attack.
United will continue to monitor their options ahead of the January transfer window as they look to get back into the Champions League places, with their next challenge coming away from home against a strong Crystal Palace side.
