Manchester United receive significant Mason Greenwood boost following ‘£100m’ transfer update

Manchester United have received a fantastic update regarding their former star, Mason Greenwood, for whom they have received a huge transfer boost.

Manchester United played out a thrilling 4-4 draw last night as they hosted AFC Bournemouth in one of the games of the season, which saw them reach sixth in the Premier League table.

Bruno Fernandes was again pivotal to United as he notched a goal and an assist, with his goal being a fantastic free-kick into the top-right corner.

The Portuguese midfielder assisted Casemiro, who unfortunately picked up a yellow card, resulting in a one-game suspension for the Reds.

With the January transfer window only around the corner, it has been suspected that United may reinvest. A new update regarding Mason Greenwood could help to bolster any future transfer plans.

Greenwood transfer boost

Greenwood, who broke out at United in 2019, left the Reds for French side Marseille in 2024, and has since been in spectacular form.

The 24-year-old winger has scored 11 goals in Ligue 1, leaving him top of the scoring charts, and has started to attract attention from a plethora of European sides.

The Red Devils negotiated a 50% sell-on clause when selling the Englishman to France, which will allow them to benefit heavily from any future sale, as stated by TeamTalk.

It is believed that Greenwood’s future fee could push towards the £100 million mark, which would allow United to receive around £32.5million, as they sold the star for £26.6 million.

Greenwood bolstering United purse

It has been heavily suspected that United will look to further invest next summer as they look to bridge the gap between themselves and the sides at the top of the table.

The Reds are being rumoured with a few top midfield prospects, including the likes of Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson, who are thought to cost a pretty penny.

If United are to receive a fee in the region of £30million for a Greenwood sale, then this would help to bolster their finances, which could allow them to bring in an elite midfielder.

Although a move back to the Premier League may not be on the horizon for Greenwood, a move back to Spain could be likely, given interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
