Manchester United receive major update from Real Betis which impacts Antony’s chances of transfer

Manchester United have received a major update from Real Betis which could impact Antony’s chances of a summer transfer to the Spanish club.

Manchester United decided to loan out Antony during the January transfer window, as his role under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford had diminished.

The Brazilian winger made the move to Spanish club Real Betis, where he has enjoyed a remarkable return to form. In 24 appearances, the 25-year-old has recorded eight goals and five assists.

His standout performances have extended into the Europa Conference League, where he has contributed four goals and three assists on Betis’ journey to the final—capped by a sensational goal in the first leg of the semi-final against Fiorentina.

Antony’s resurgence on loan is a welcome boost for United, who are now attempting a permanent sale during the upcoming summer transfer window.

United receive Betis update about Antony

It is clear that Antony does not have a future at Old Trafford and there is no longer any reason to loan him out after his value was somewhat restored during his loan at Betis.

The problem has been about finding that permanent suitor and not being forced to mess around and eventually settle on another loan deal like they did with Jadon Sancho.

Real Betis have constantly been communicating their desire to keep Antony at their club but it has also been reported heavily that they only want another loan deal, which is useless to United.

However, the latest information from the Telegraph suggests a shift from the La Liga outfit, with the report claiming that Betis now want to sign Antony permanently this summer.

United want to receive around £40 million for him and while they are unlikely to reach that amount, it is a positive step in getting a permanent exit sorted.

Perhaps add-ons can make up some of the deal or even additional clauses, such as a sell-on, if he ends up leaving Betis in the coming years. United would want at least £30 million up front, though.

United need multiple clubs interested in players

What United need with Antony, and hopefully some of their other players, is multiple clubs to show interest. It will be much harder to convince Betis of paying up if no one else is interested.

But if someone like Atletico Madrid, who have been reported to be sniffing around Antony, enter the picture then United would be in a much stronger position in any negotiations.

The same needs to occur with Marcus Rashford, although that exit feels like it will take much longer than anyone wants. Quick deals are needed at Old Trafford, both out and in.

Betis now being keen for a permanent deal is one step closer in seeing Antony go but there is so much more work to be done.
