Manchester United have been handed the opportunity to bring in £40m World Cup winner as he has ‘offered himself’ to the Red Devils this summer.
With plenty of business to attend to this summer, Manchester United will be hopeful that they can soon start closing out some deals, having already acquired their top target Matheus Cunha.
Ruben Amorim’s side have made it abundantly clear that they are in the market for an entirely new forward line, as well as looking to attain a new midfielder and a new goalkeeper.
Under the direction of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co, United will have to be careful with their expenditure in the coming months, as they will need to adhere to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
The Red Devils are still undecided on the future of shot-stopper Andre Onana, but Amorim has been handed a golden opportunity to replace the Cameroonian, through signing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa.
Martinez ‘offered himself’ to United
The World Cup winning goalkeeper is seeking a move away from his current surroundings, and as GIVEMESPORT report, the Argentine has ‘offered himself to Manchester United’.
Villa haven’t ruled out the reluctant sale of Martinez as of yet, due to fears of breaching the PSR laws if they don’t sanction big-money sales.
Unai Emery’s side missed out on Champions League qualification last season, and have since rejected the chance to make Marcus Rashford’s loan stint a permanent transfer, due to the £40m fee being too expensive.
Martinez appeared visibly emotional following his side’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur last month, which has fuelled speculation for his departure this summer.
Villa demanding close to £40m for Martinez
According to the same GMS sources, Martinez has made it clear that despite missing out on Champions League qualification, he would still be willing to join Amorim’s side.
It could cost close to a reported £40m to get this deal over the line in the coming weeks, but some would argue that is worth it for a player described as ‘world-class’ by Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell.

Villa are using the valuation of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan as a yardstick for their valuation of Martinez. Maignan has been rumoured with a move to Chelsea as he enters the final year on his contract, but Milan are seeking £25m.
The 32-year-olds current £150,000 per-week contract is active until 2029, which explains the steep fee, but it could be the price United have to pay if they are to finally rid themselves of goalkeeping mishaps.
