Manchester United are preparing a second bid for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo as they look to make him the second signing of the summer at Old Trafford.
Following a disappointing season, Manchester United are wasting no time in the transfer window as they aim to rebuild their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Matheus Cunha has already been confirmed as Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer, and interest in Bryan Mbeumo is intensifying, with the player eager to join the club.
The club are also targeting a new striker, with multiple options being assessed. Bringing in all three attacking players would go a long way in revitalising United’s underperforming forward line.
Meanwhile, it has also been claimed that an extra midfielder is on the transfer list at Old Trafford following the exit of Christian Eriksen.
United preparing second Mbeumo bid
After being made aware of his preference to join the club, United launched their opening bid for Mbeumo earlier this week. The offer, which was £45 million plus another £10 million in add-ons, was swiftly rejected by Brentford.
However, fresh reports from MailSport have confirmed that United are now planning their second bid for the player as the Bees look for a £60 million package.
Ben Jacobs has also clarified that United may have to adjust the add-ons included in the deal, with Brentford preferring clauses which do not depend on team performance at Old Trafford.
It is likely that this second bid is much closer to being accepted, although it would be surprising if more adjustments do not need to be made before an agreement is reached.
Cunha arrival date hinted
Meanwhile, Cunha was announced at the beginning of the window but fans are still waiting for his first day at Old Trafford, with pictures and an interview to take place.
The Brazilian international is currently playing for his nation and came off the bench in Carlo Ancelotti’s first game against Ecuador.
He is set to play in another World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in the early hours next Wednesday before travelling back to Manchester.
Interestingly, United have announced that the launch of their 2025/26 home kit will come on the following day. Cunha will likely be involved in some part of that before taking part in his other media duties with the club.
The new signing will then head on holiday before returning to Carrington for his first training sessions under Amorim at the beginning of July.
His first opportunity to play in United colours will come on 19 July as the Reds play their first pre-season game in Sweden against Leeds.
