Manchester United predicted XI vs Newcastle with Erik ten Hag making four changes (Carabao Cup)
Erik ten Hag is predicted to make four changes as Manchester United welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Manchester United will be looking to redeem themselves against Newcastle United after Manchester City pulled up to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and played Erik ten Hag‘s team off the park.
The 3-0 loss, thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland and a further from Phil Foden, became the club’s seventh loss this season across all competitions, with the club sitting third in their Champions League group and 8th in the Premier League table.

A highlight for Ten Hag last season was the 2023 Carabao Cup final victory, and as he prepares to face the same opponent as that final in the same competition once again, Andrè Onana’s fine performance on the weekend will no doubt earn him the right to keep his spot on against Newcastle.
In front of him are two expected changes after the defensive performance on the weekend proved to be nothing short of a mess. Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf will likely lose their places in place of Raphaël Varane and Sergio Reguilón, while Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire will almost certainly remain.
In midfield, although Casemiro may be ready in time to make the squad, the odds of him starting are slimmer, meaning Sofyan Amrabat will retain his place despite being pulled off at half-time against City.
Mason Mount, who was on the bench against City, may get minutes in the attacking role, with Scott McTominay rounding off the midfield three. Although the fixture was highlighted as a potential return date for Kobbie Mainoo, his involvement in the EFL trophy loss against Salford City on Tuesday evening means he will not play against Newcastle.
Captain Bruno Fernandes would therefore move to the right-wing position, as though Antony is available, the Brazilian did not start on the weekend and when he did come on, his body languaged portrayed a player who was sulking – something Ten Hag will not appreciate.
Rasmus Højlund was one of the few bright sparks during the Manchester derby defeat and should lead the line, with Alejandro on the left wing, affording Marcus Rashford a rest.
