Manchester United predicted XI to face Brighton (FA Cup Semi Final)
Manchester United look to put the disappointment of exiting the Europa League behind them as Erik ten Hag’s attention turns to Brighton in an attempt to book a place in the FA Cup final.
The blue half of Manchester will be watching on after securing their place in next month’s final with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
The United boss has a selection headache in defence with his first-choice centre-back pairing still absent. Club captain Harry Maguire misses out through suspension although that may be deemed as a blessing in disguise in the eyes of many supporters.
Luke Shaw looks set to return to the starting XI after returning from injury against Sevilla in mid-week and could step back into central defence alongside Victor Lindelof.
Tyrrel Malacia is available but after Diogo Dalot’s impressive cameo at left-back against Notiingham Forest last week, he may be favoured ahead of the Dutchman.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should keep his place to make up the make-shift defence.
Bruno Fernandes will return to the team after serving a suspension on Thursday and it’s likely that he will be accompanied by Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to make up a midfield three who are undefeated when starting together.
Anthony Martial left the pitch early on Thursday but fears of his injury being long-term look to have been dispelled after he was seen training with the rest of the team in London on Saturday afternoon.
With Weghorst out of favour, it looks likely that Ten Hag will start with the French forward.
The in-form Antony will no doubt keep his place on the right and Marcus Rashford could return to make up United’s front three to replace Jadon Sancho, who has underwhelmed in recent appearances.
Manchester United predicted XI
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Rashford.
