United are beginning to finalise their transfer shortlist for the upcoming summer window, with whispers of a £150,000-a-week move floating the circuit.
When speaking about the upcoming Summer transfer window, Manchester United is a club you just have to mention. Several reports have suggested that INEOS have big plans this summer for a major midfield clearout and is willing to spend big money as a part of this venture.
Last summer saw a total rebrand of United’s front line with the likes of Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Mathues Cunha embarking on their journey at Old Trafford. It’s safe to say that these three signings have been exactly what the Reds have needed this season, and hopefully, changes to the midfield will get United exactly where they need to be.
Since Michael Carrick has filled the dugout, United have not lost a single fixture, climbing their way to fourth in the Premier League standings, with Champions League football very much in the cards for the Red Devils.
If United are to put up a strong fight in Europe, then they need to put an incredibly strong squad forward, which is why the summer transfer window is so vital, with manhy big name players linked with a move to Manchester.
Elliott Anderson remains a clear target
Manchester United are said to be aiming to sign two top midfielders this summer, with the likes of Nottingham Forrest star Eliott Anderson, Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton all closely linked with a move to United.

23-year-old Eliott Anderson’s name has been whispered around Old Trafford since last summer, with some sources believing the youngster would venture up North in January. However, managerial issues got in the way of United making any new additions to the locker room, but with the team now back on track, Anderson may finally make the move.
Nottingham Forrest have been in danger this campaign, currently 17th in the Premier League table with 11 games to go, and Man United are working hard to capitalise on this. Anderson may be joined by one of his Forrest teammates to be the second powerhouse midfield signing for the Reds.
Forrest captain Morgan Gibbs-White has recently emerged as yet another potential addition to United’s squad, many believing the 26-year-old’s talent is wasted under Vitor Pereira.

Morgan Gibbs-White emerges as new target
United have been quoted over £100m for some of the previously listed midfield targets, whereas finding a spot for Gibbs-White would been far simpler.
The Daily Mail has reported that the England International has a release clause written into his contract with Forrest. This is a part of the new contract he signed last summer after being persuaded to stay at the City Ground instead of moving to Tottenham. A part of this deal included the midfielders’ weekly wages increasing to £150,000.
Cunha, Mbuemo and Sesko are all on similar salaries, which could contribute to whether United will make the sale for Gibbs-White.
This is definitely becoming more of a likely possibility, with both Anderson and Gibbs-White rumoured to take offers elsewhere as United aim to drive down their wage bill during the off-season. Both Manchester City and Chelsea have expressed their interest in Anderson in particular, which is slightly worrying for the Reds as theyre unable to compete with either team’s prices.
However, not all hope is lost, as separate reports have suggested that United are prepared to shatter their transfer record this summer to land their top targets.
