Manchester United players had a day to forget last night after a 7-0 thrashing against Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United star players, including Casemiro, David de Gea, and Diogo Dalot, were pictured arriving at Carrington at around 9 am on Monday morning.

As per the Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag had arrived at the training ground two hours before the players.

speaking after the loss, Erik ten Hag told BeIN Sports: “You can lose a game but not in this way. The second half is unprofessional, it can’t happen. We have to talk about it.

“It was not about one or two players, it was the whole team. I saw 11 individuals losing their heads, not sticking to the plan. That is unprofessional and that is not Manchester United.

“We let the fans down, that’s what makes me the most annoyed.

“We have to reset, We’ve bounced back many times before. We will bounce back.”

It is said that this arrival was pre-planned ahead of the fixture, but the nature of the training and pre-planned message from the coaching staff will no doubt have changed, considering the result.

Luke Shaw also commented on the loss, saying: “It’s hard to explain this. I think the standards where we have been at, it was nowhere near it.

“I feel embarrassed for the fans and the people who were watching for us. I can only apologise.

“It’s not going to be easy watching this back. But he (Erik ten Hag) is going to make us watch it back, and show us what we need to learn from this embarrassment.”

Manchester United will next return their attention to the Europa League where they welcome Real Betis to Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

Despite the terrible result, Manchester United are still in a good position, sitting third in the Premier League table and facing opponents in both the round of 16 of the Europa League and the quarter-final of the FA Cup after recently winning the Carabao Cup.

This is not the first time that United have suffered an embarrassing result in the Premier League having lost to both Brentford and Manchester City 4-0 and 6-3, respectively.

The club and players have proved this season that they can bounce back from terrible results, with the fixture against Real Betis the perfect opportunity to do so.
