Manchester United player ratings in dominant 2-0 win vs Everton in Premier League clash
Manchester United comfortably beat Everton 2-0 in what was a dominant display in the Old Trafford sunshine as Erik ten Hag’s side regained their third-place spot in the Premier League.
In the first half, United flexed their muscles, controlling possession and creating chances for fun. A Scott McTominay goal saw them go 1-0 up after a smart pass from Jadon Sancho, but really they should’ve had about four goals by that point.
In the second half, The Reds cooled down a little but continued to play well. Everton had a period where they threatened, but when Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial linked up for the Frenchman to score with a lovely finish past Pickford, and this killed the game off.
Rashford had to leave the field prematurely due to injury, which United fans will be hoping and praying is nothing serious.
Here is how UtdDistrict rated the players:
David De Gea: 7/10
Comfortable performance, was unlucky not to have an assist for Antony in the first half but should have done much better on some crosses.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6.5/10
Incredibly shaky first half in which he was quite loose in possession and inexplicably missed an open goal. Had a better second half.
Harry Maguire: 7.5/10
Excellent return to the lineup for the skipper. Marshalled Ellis Simms with relative ease and played the ball well throughout.
Lisandro Martínez: 7.5/10
Standard performance from Licha, which just goes to show how good he is, even if some refuse to admit it. Played a key role in Martial’s goal.
Tyrell Malacia: 7/10
Had a couple of loose moments but overall a very solid performance from Malacia, who looks a smarter signing with every appearance.
Scott McTominay: 8/10
Allowed to play slightly higher and attack the box, but not in the failed number 10 role experiment of Newcastle, McTominay had a strong performance and scored an excellent goal.
Bruno Fernandes: 9/10
Man of the Match performance and somehow left without an assist. Playing deeper again, Everton gave Fernandes time and space to pick out passes, which he did for fun in the first half. Retained the ball excellently on top of the creative masterclass.
Marcel Sabitzer: 7/10
Moved intelligently off the ball, pressed well and generally provided a lot of energy. Created a fantastic chance for Fernandes.
Antony: 6.5/10
Disappointing performance. Got into good positions frequently but was never able to execute, and some of his decisions and passes could have been better.
Marcus Rashford: 6.5/10
Incredibly wasteful in front of goal, but his movements have shown promise with the prospect of Rashford returning to the centre-forward position full-time being a real possibility. Picked up an assist for Martial.
Jadon Sancho: 7/10
A better and more confident performance, assisted McTominay with an incredibly smart pass in a packed Everton box.
Substitutes
Anthony Martial: 7.5/10
Who doesn’t love it when Anthony Martial scores? Tidy finish against a side he loves scoring against to move ahead of David Beckham in United’s all-time goalscoring chart. Linked play well too.
Christian Eriksen: 7/10
Nice to see Eriksen return to the lineup. Showcased his technical ability, which will help United dominate games better.
Fred: 7/10
Provided energy.
Wout Weghorst: N/A
Came on for Rashford and had little time to really do much
