Manchester United player ratings in 3-1 win vs RC Lens at Old Trafford
Manchester United won 3-1 against RC Lens in their one and only pre-season friendly at Old Trafford this summer.
After returning from the tour of the United States, Erik ten Hag’s side were able to win at the Theatre of Dreams to continue what was a great record at home from last season.
Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro scored the goals to come back from 1-0 down after Andre Onana was lobbed from the half-way line on his home debut.
The United player ratings from the encounter can be viewed below:
Andre Onana – 7.5/10
The opening goal proved that United can be caught out with the way that Onana plays. But it was not his fault, as he cannot adjust his positioning in build-up within seconds due to a sloppy loss of possession. Overall solid again.
Diogo Dalot – 6/10
A sloppy giveaway to allow Lens the chance to lob the out of net Onana. Otherwise it was a decent showing from Dalot but must cut out those mistakes if he’s going to start next season.
Raphael Varane – 7/10
A solid display from the Frenchman on his return to the side.
Lisandro Martinez – 7.5/10
A few sloppy moments for the Argentine in the first-half but mostly business as usual for the defender.
Luke Shaw – 8/10
Looked very good on the left and delivered a perfect cross for United’s third.
Casemiro – 8.5/10
Several thunderous challenges in the first-half and looking much better on the ball too. Best pre-season performance and topped it off with a slightly fortunate goal.
Mason Mount – 7/10
He missed what can only be described as an absolute sitter. Unfortunate for him as it was another decent overall performance from United’s no.7.
Bruno Fernandes – 8.5/10
Incredible in his return to Old Trafford as captain. So many brilliant flicks, passes and more. Standard Bruno.
Antony – 8.5/10
A really solid showing from the right-wing. A perfect setup for Marcus Rashford’s opener and a deft finish to score the second.
Marcus Rashford – 8/10
After being pretty quiet in the first-half, Rashford was much livelier in the second. Linking up very well and scoring his first chance well. Leaped well to connect with Luke Shaw’s cross for the third but it appeared to deflect into the goal off Casemiro.
Alejandro Garnacho – 9/10
The most dangerous attacking threat. United would consistently funnel the ball to the winger on the left and he had his full-back beat each and every time. Brilliant vision and pass to find Antony for the second before being replaced midway through the second half.
Substitutes
Jadon Sancho – 6/10
Had to settle into the game. Some nice moments late on.
Omari Forson – 6/10
A few decent moments.
