According to new reports, Manchester United would be open to striking a swap deal with Crystal Palace that would see Aaron Wan-Bissaka returning to his former club, and Michael Olise moving the other way.

Wan-Bissaka has remained a regular name in United’s matchday squads since joining the side from Palace in a £50 million swoop back in 2019.

Starting 114 Premier League matches, Wan-Bissaka has already made 12 appearances for the Red Devils this season in the league despite battling injuries.

Palace are believed to have held a longstanding interest in bringing Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park, with reports of their intentions constantly surfacing in the years since he left the side.

In a post on their transfer blog page, talkSport reported that United could now use the full-back as a “bargaining chip” in a bid to secure Olise’s services.

United have identified the right side of their attack as a problem area, with Olise one of the names the club has highlighted as a possible fix.

The forward is believed to be an appealing option due to a release clause being added to the latest contract he signed at Crystal Palace.

Despite United’s now heavily reported interest in Olise, UtdDistrict understands that the club have identified Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams as their prime target for the position.

If the move for Olise does go ahead, United will hope that their first swap deal in over five years turns out better than their last attempt at such a deal.

Many fans of the Red Devils will remember the Manchester side’s infamous January 2018 signing of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. It was a move that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to the Emirates in return, with neither player being much of a success during their time with their new teams.
