According to a new report, Manchester United are open to selling a Rúben Amorim regular with the “unsettled” star seemingly changing his transfer stance.
As Manchester United look ahead to the summer transfer window, Rúben Amorim faces the challenge of addressing several key areas in his squad.
Reports suggest the club are preparing to part ways with up to 10 senior players, including Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Casemiro, in order to generate funds for new signings.
With the available budget, the club reportedly aims to bring in a new striker, a deep-lying midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a left wing-back, and a goalkeeper, with a centre-back also on the list.
However, given the club’s financial difficulties, it is expected that Manchester United will focus on signing players who offer good value for money, rather than spending heavily on top-tier talent.
United open to selling Onana
With Amorim reportedly eyeing a new goalkeeper this summer, previous reports had suggested that the player was comfortable about his future and confident he could remain at Old Trafford for the coming season.
However, a new report from talkSPORT has seemingly suggested that the player has now changed his mind, with claims made that Onana is now feeling “unsettled” at Old Trafford and has done so for some time.
With this in mind, the club are said to be open to selling him in the summer, although if he were to leave United, it would be because he wanted to, just as much as because the club wanted to move him on.
With United willing to listen to offers, clubs from the Saudi Pro League are said to have a “serious” interest in the coming summer market.
Onana has played 24 times for Amorim since the head coach took over from Erik ten Hag in November 2024, cementing himself as a regular for the 40-year-old.
Who could replace Onana this summer?
Suppose Onana were to leave United in 2025. In that case, it is unlikely that second-choice Altay Bayındır would be promoted to his spot, and young Academy goalkeeper Elyh Harrison is deemed too inexperienced.
According to the report that initially broke the Onana and Saudi Pro League rumours, United are looking at Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens and Lille’s goalkeeping sensation Lucas Chevalier as potential replacements.
22-year-old Lammens has proved himself well this campaign, playing 33 times and conceding 36 goals in the process. 23-year-old Chevalier has been exceptional for Lille, playing 40 times across all competitions, including ten Champions League appearances.
However, both players are said to be on the list of Manchster City who are looking to replace long-term shot-stopper Ederson.
