Manchester United on alert after PSG transfer list “world-class” star, Rúben Amorim favourite in trouble

Manchester United are on alert after Paris St. Germain have listed one of their “world-class” players up for sale this summer.

Ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first full season in charge at Old Trafford, Manchester United are still working on their transfer priorities as pre-season gets underway.

One of Amorim’s main goals this summer was to transform the forward line, and with the signings of both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, he is well on track to do that.

As the transfer window approaches its final month, United are still looking to bring in an experienced centre forward, a new goalkeeper to provide competition to André Onana, and a defensive midfielder to partner captain Bruno Fernandes.

After an outlay of £127.5 million for their two new forwards, United need to sell a number of key players, including the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Antony, to secure more targets.

PSG looking to sell Donnarumma

According to information relayed by CaughtOffside gtom sources close to the situation, Gianluigi Donnarumma is among the top names on United’s shortlist to replace Onana, despite it being well known that Amorim holds a good working relationship with the goalkeeper.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti once labelled Donnarumma as Italy’s only “world-class” player, having performed well across Europe for over a decade already.

The new revelation comes after a breakdown in contract extension negotiations, and with only one year left on his contract, PSG have opted to sell the 26-year-old now, rather than lose him on a free next season.

It’s also reported that both United and Manchester City are closely monitoring the situation, but with City’s recent re-acquisition of former Academy keeper James Trafford, they’re unlikely to be in the market for another goalkeeper.

PSG are reportedly looking to replace Donnarumma with Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, who is also linked with United, also showing interest in his signature.

The two Ligue 1 keepers are joined by Porto’s Diogo Costa on United’s shortlist, with the 25-year-old keeper reportedly dreaming of playing in the Premier League, and United have been long-time admirers of Porto’s captain.

Donnarumma transfer is unrealistic

While there’s no doubt that the Italian is among the best keepers in Europe, helping PSG win their maiden UEFA Champions League title, a move for Donnarumma is unrealistic considering United’s financial situation this summer.

According to Capology, the Italian currently earns £220,000-per-week in the French capital, and with United looking to reduce their weekly wage bill, a deal will be tricky to navigate, and would have to cut his wage to be similar to Onana’s reported £120,000-per-week.

Despite wanting to sell Onana, it could be looking more and more likely that United will sign a strong back up instead to rival the Cameroonian for a starting spot in the side, as United are still unsure whether to go for an experienced goalkeeper, or an exciting talent.

Senne Lammens is a name that has been high on United’s list for a while now, with the club stepping up their interest in signing the 23-year-old Royal Antwerp shot-stopper wanting to join United this summer.
