Manchester United has been offered a player in discussions for Rasmus Højlund, with the striker potentially being included as a makeweight in any potential deal for the Danish player.
Manchester United could sell Rasmus Højlund this summer, with the club reportedly open to allowing the forward to leave the club if the offer they receive is reasonable. Hojlund struggled for much of the campaign last year and has yet to get going under Ruben Amorim.
INEOS and Amorim are open to signing a new forward if they can get their hands on one in the window in the coming weeks. One number ten has already been signed in the shape of Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo is likely to come through the door in the coming days.
Both players can and have played as strikers in recent years for their clubs, and both playing in that position for United is yet to be ruled out if a striker cannot be signed.
A striker has been offered to United in discussions with Inter Milan over the potential transfer of Rasmus Hojlund, and it may present an interesting decision for the club.
United offered Taremi in Højlund talks
United have reportedly been offered Mehdi Taremi in talks for Rasmus Højlund, according to journalist Graeme Bailey. Højlund is not expected to leave United, with the chances of him staying fairly strong, but talks have taken place with clubs in Italy, in particular.
Juventus and Inter have taken a liking to the Dane, and in recent discussions with United, Inter proposed a move in the other direction for Mehdi Taremi. Taremi, 32, was previously linked to the Reds, but a move never materialised.
United have also been linked to Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike, but no further bids or concrete negotiations have materialised. Gyokeres is still awaiting Arsenal’s decision, as the player has already made it clear to United that he would prefer to join the Gunners.
The Reds declined the chance to sign Taremi in the negotiations, meaning another player would have to be offered, or the deal would have to be a pure cash or loan deal.
United should aim higher than Taremi
United need to aim higher than Taremi this summer in their bid to replace either Højlund or, more broadly, in their pursuit of signing a new centre forward for the club. Victor Osimhen or Gyokeres make a lot more sense.
The new striker has to be elite. It has to be someone who takes United to the next level, and as good as Taremi is, he does not automatically take United closer to a title.

A better choice would be to keep Hojlund and sign someone of the ilk of Taremi, but a slight bit younger and more suitable to an Amorim system. The club will be working around the clock to ensure they can find someone like that before the end of the window.
United made a quick decision on Taremi, but there are plenty more quick decisions to be made between now and August.
