Manchester United monitoring “beautiful” Premier League alternative amid Bryan Mbeumo hijack fears

Manchester United are reportedly considering an alternative to Bryan Mbeumo as fears of Tottenham hijacking their move intensify.

Manchester United have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha by activating his £62.5 million release clause. However, their £45 million offer, with an additional £10 million in potential add-ons for Bryan Mbeumo, was turned down.

Mbeumo, who notched 20 goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season, is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford. However, Thomas Frank’s recent switch from Brentford to Tottenham has complicated the situation.

Mbeumo is still believed to favour a move to United, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy sees the Brentford star as a marquee addition for the Cameroonians’ former coach, Thomas Frank, who has just taken over following Ange Postecoglou’s exit. Spurs are expected to continue their pursuit.

While United remain hopeful of landing Mbeumo, they are also exploring alternative targets to support Matheus Cunha in the attacking roles behind the striker within Ruben Amorim’s now well-known 3-4-3 system.

United join the race for Bournemouth’s Kluivert

Justin Kluivert has recently emerged as a player who could be on the move over the summer, with the Bournemouth forward attracting interest from several clubs.

The 26-year-old had a “beautiful” campaign in the Premier League last season, scoring 12 goals, and has reportedly caught the attention of clubs.

According to CaughtOffside, United have long been admirers of Kluivert and are closely monitoring the player’s situation, with it being thought that he could thrive under a fluid attacking setup.

United have been keeping tabs on Kluivert since the early days, when he played in the Eredivisie, and with the number of forwards linked with the club, he remains on the shortlist.

Bournemouth have reportedly set the asking price for their star at £42 million, but are under no pressure to sell unless their valuation is met.

Should United prioritise elsewhere?

While much of the focus has been on United’s need to revamp their forward line, the midfield also demands significant reinforcement ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

With several midfield departures confirmed or expected, Ruben Amorim faces the challenge of recruiting players who not only replace the outgoing talent but also align with his tactical approach.

Under Erik ten Hag, Bruno Fernandes operated as an advanced No. 10, but under Amorim, he has been shifted into a deeper playmaking role, one that doesn’t quite suit his strengths or natural position in the current setup.

Amorim requires dynamic, adaptable midfielders like Manuel Ugarte or a fully fit Mason Mount, who bring energy, tactical flexibility, and the ability to cover multiple roles.

Given United’s restricted budget this summer, the club must prioritise signing players who match both Amorim’s system and the physical demands of the Premier League if they are to return to European competition.
