Manchester United make “serious progress” on second transfer this week after improved Bryan Mbeumo bid

Manchester United have made some ‘serious progress’ on a second transfer this week following on from their improved bid for Bryan Mbeumo.

It was an extremely busy start to the summer transfer window for Manchester United following on from their disastrous 2024/25 campaign.

Within the first week Matheus Cunha had signed, Bruno Fernandes was confirmed to be staying and the opening bid for Bryan Mbeumo had been launched.

However, since that point, things had gotten quiet especially regarding the Mbeumo move. Now, it has been confirmed the a second offer of £60 million has been submitted to Brentford.

Meanwhile, the club are also trying to focus on player sales, with several stars set to leave the club this summer.

United make serious progress on second transfer

Following on from the news of the Mbeumo bid, it has been revealed that ‘serious progress’ has been made in the attempt to sell Jadon Sancho.

That’s according to information from Turkish journalist Murat Zorlu, who said that Fenerbahce are ‘moving forward’ with a deal for the 25-year-old.

“As far as I know, there has been serious progress with Jadon Sancho. He’s the one that’s moving forward right now,” said Zorlu.

Sancho has been attracting interest from Italy as well, and particularly Napoli, but his wages are off-putting for those clubs.

The winger spent the last season on loan at Chelsea, where it was initially expected he would join permanently. However, the Blues opted to pay a £5m fine to avoid signing him.

Quick sale best for all parties

The likes of Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford should really be out of the door soon. It is best for all parties for these deals to be resolved quickly.

While it is obviously beneficial for the club to get it sorted, the players should want to have a full pre-season at a new team so they can go onto prove United wrong.

But it does feel somewhat inevitable that at least one of these moves will drag on right until the end of the transfer window, which is far from ideal.

After getting Mbeumo through the door, sales will need to be made and those are the main players the club are trying to sell, alongside Antony.
