Manchester United make fresh Kobbie Mainoo transfer decision after t-shirt fiasco as ‘sale’ claim made

Manchester United have reportedly entertained the idea of a potential sale for Kobbie Mainoo in the upcoming transfer window.

Fans and pundits alike have criticised Ruben Amorim this season, with Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo receiving limited game time, consistently finding himself out of the starting lineup.

Despite his lack of game time, Manchester United have avoided any questions regarding a potential transfer for the academy graduate.

With the World Cup taking place next year many people have come out saying a move away from his home club would be in the midfielder’s best interest if he wants to see career progression.

The 10-capped England international has not made a single Premier League start this season, with the 20-year-old massively underused this season. Many believe his departure from the Reds should be almost inevitable.

United make fresh Mainoo transfer decision

Although United have so far chosen to remain quiet about a move for Mainoo, Sky Sports has shared news on the matter today. Sky revealed that “Manchester United will only consider selling Kobbie Mainoo in January if they receive an exceptional offer.”

It is reported that United are extremely reluctant to see the player leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal or on loan, despite interest from a number of Premier League sides.

Although United remain closed off to a move for Mainoo, they are warming up to the idea. Even though it seems the offer would have to be incredibly large, this is the first time the club have even entertained this option, rejecting a loan request from the midfielder in August due to a lack of financial benefit for the club.

Mainoo’s future at United remains a pressing matter, with the young player’s brother sporting a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt to United’s most recent fixture against Bournemouth. This has ignited a plethora of conversations across the internet many fans agreeing with the idea.

While United would be disappointed to see him go, receiving a hero’s welcome when subbed on Monday night, they see it with the player’s best interest at heart.

Keane on Mainoo’s future at United

Whilst a move for the youngster is widely supported in the football world, former United legend Roy Keane doesn’t share the same stance on what’s best for Mainoo.

The pundit revealed how he feels that Mainoo should fight for his place in the matchday squad and prove Amorim and the other United coaching staff wrong.

In a recent episode of the Stick to Football podcast, the former United captain said, “Are you telling me he can’t sit there for another six months?

“He might think the manager might be gone in the summer, one or two of the senior players might be gone.

“He’s 20 years of age, what’s wrong with sitting and learning your trade? And even if you’re not getting a chance, we’ve all had to do it at different levels.

“Sometimes a manager is on your case and what you have to do is look at a manager and go ‘I’ll prove you wrong’.”
