Manchester United ‘make contact’ with two managerial targets in case Erik ten Hag gets sacked
Manchester United have made contact with two managerial targets in case they sack Erik ten Hag in the coming months.
Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United was uncertain in the summer despite his FA Cup final victory against Manchester City in May.
INEOS ultimately decided to keep the manager and extend his contract but the start to the new campaign has caused concern about the Dutchman’s position.
United have won just three of their opening 10 fixtures and find themselves 14th in the Premier League table.
While INEOS are standing by the 54-year-old for now, it is undeniable that results and performances must improve quickly as the club return to action against Brentford this weekend.
United ‘make contact’ with two managers
According to German reporter Christian Falk, former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic is ‘very highly rated’ by those at Old Trafford.
It was added that there has already been contact between the club and manager and that they have been watching him since he departed Dortmund in the summer.
Finally, the report stated that United were very impressed with how he reached the Champions League final with the Bundesliga outfot last season. He is current a free agent as well.
Meanwhile, reports from Sky Germany have claimed that The Reds also made contact with Sporting manager Ruben Amorim.
United have already made specific inquiries about him and his situation in Portugal, with the report explaining that while the club still trust Ten Hag, they want to be prepared if they have to sack him.
Amorim, who is also reportedly an option to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, is not planning a move in the winter, but has a release clause that activates next summer.
