Manchester United have reportedly offered £78 million for the services of one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents, with the Reds having permission to discuss contract details.
Manchester United are still on the lookout to bolster their attacking department, despite their £200million summer reinforcement.
The Reds brought in two new wingers in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who both had very impressive Premier League campaigns last season, before finally bringing in young striker Benjamin Šeško to complete the front-three.
Although these fresh acquisitions have provided much benefit to the Reds, who are currently the third-highest scorers in the Premier League, United are still looking to strengthen.
United have been linked to a host of different attacking talents, but according to a report from Africafoot, they have set their sights on Ivorian international Yan Diomande.
United’s bid for Diomande
As stated in the report, United have offered £78 million for the services of RB Leipzig’s winger, who has taken Europe by storm this season.
The 20-year-old has been on the radar of a myriad of European sides since he moved to Germany, with Liverpool, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Manchester City all interested in the Ivorian prodigy.
The Red Devils are supposedly well on their way to finalising a deal for the talented attacker, with a meeting for Diomande taking place last week.
In this meeting, United were granted permission to discuss contract details with the player’s representatives. They have reportedly offered him a salary of £3 million per year.
It is also worth noting that Diamonde is a good friend of United star Amad, who has dropped more than one cryptic message surrounding him and the 19-year-old during Ivory Coast’s adventures at the Africa Cup of Nations.
A new-look United unfolding post-Amorim
Now that Ruben Amorim has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of United, many are starting to suspect how the Reds may shape up under interim coach Darren Fletcher.
One of the key aspects of Amorim’s reign that he was so often scrutinised for was his stubbornness and unwavering loyalty to his 3-4-2-1 system, although this may now be set to change.

A new-look United side could set up in a more traditional 4-2-3-1 setup, with Bruno Fernandes moving back to his usual role as an attacking midfielder.
If the Reds were to complete the signing of Diomande, then it is likely that he would compete with Cunha for the spot on the left side of the attack, although the Ivorian is comfortable on either wing.
