Manchester United looking to repeat simple transfer trick as Patrick Dorgu medical completed

Manchester United have used a savvy trick as they look to complete two consecutive transfer deals whilst navigating the profit and sustainability (PSR) rules.

As Ruben Amorim’s side look to confirm their second signing of the winter transfer window following the arrival of Ayden Heaven from Arsenal, United have set their sights on avoiding any potential financial penalty.

Having recently written a letter to United fan group The 1958 regarding the club’s fears they may soon find themselves in breach of the Premier League’s PSR guidelines, the Red Devils have had to be smart in how they push for further deals.

With this in mind, United have worked to secure loan departures for several first-team names, in advance of bringing in incoming signings. In the case of Patrick Dorgu, United are now reportedly set to send Tyrell Malacia on loan to Benfica – freeing up both space and wages ahead of completing Dorgu’s £29 million transfer.

In a similar case, it has been said that Mathys Tel’s arrival on loan from Bayern Munich may be subject to the departure of Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa.

In the case of all four deals, rapid developments have occurred so far this weekend, with United looking to repeat their Dorgu-Malacia trick to sign Tel before deadline day by seeing Rashford depart.

Dorgu’s United medical completed

Sky Sports News are reporting that Patrick Dorgu completed his Manchester United medical on Saturday, with the defender moving even closer to finalising his move to Manchester from Serie A side Lecce.

Dorgu, who was an unused sub in Lecce’s 3-1 victory against Parma on Friday evening, is believed to be signing a long-term contract with United.

Regarding Mathys Tel, UtdDistrict understands that the Red Devils are planning to submit an official offer for the France U21s international’s services. In their attempts to secure Tel’s services, United are also aiming to include a £45million buy option in the loan agreement.

Though lower than the £50 million bid accepted by Bayern from Spurs, United’s offer would still allow Bayern to more than double the £17.1million they paid to sign Tel from Rennes in the summer of 2022. Tel’s move to Spurs fell through earlier this week after the attacker decided against a move to the North London side.

Further United outgoings expected

Rashford, 27, an integral part of United’s pursuit of Tel is now widely expected to sign for Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season with the Midlands club to have an option to make the deal permanent.

According to reports, Rashford was enticed by the possibility of playing in the Champions League this season – with Fabrizio Romano confirming he has agreed personal terms with Villa.

Finally, Tyrell Malacia is set to join fellow ex-United left-back Alvaro Carreras at Benfica. Malacia, the first name former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag signed for the club is believed to have agreed terms with the Portuguese side.
