Manchester United look to return to European giant for massive summer signing
According to reports from Spain, Manchester United are looking to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele.
The report, which comes from Fichajes via Football Transfers, states that Dembele’s representatives have already had discussions with senior figures at United.
Reportedly, the discussions between the two sides have so far been fruitful, with Dembele making it clear that he would welcome a move to both the Premier League and more specifically Manchester United.
Dembele’s ability to play on either the right or left side of the wing is a key factor in United’s reported interest, with United manager Erik ten Hag believed to be keen on recruiting a new winger for his team.
This report comes just weeks after United moved for PSG defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, making him the final recruit of Ten Hag’s summer of signings.
Dembele, 27, is in his second season with PSG, having joined the side in a £43.4 million move from Barcelona.
With three goals and two assists in just four Ligue 1 games so far this season, the World Cup-winning international has started this season in exceptional form.
In his first season in Paris, he produced more mixed returns, with three goals and eight assists from 26 league appearances.
Dembele’s time in Barcelona was equally mixed, with injuries preventing the attacker from repaying the huge £109 million expenditure Barca spent on him.
In the event that Dembele’s move to Manchester United does come to fruition, it would make the seventh time the two clubs have done business with one another.
Previously United have recruited Gabriel Heinze, the aforementioned Manuel Ugarte, as well as signing both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani following the end of their contracts with PSG.
PSG meanwhile have signed Angel Di Maria, as well as recurring Ander Herrera after the latter decided to not sign a new contract with the Red Devils.
