Manchester United legends agree on “weird” Erik ten Hag thought following Luton performance
Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have voiced their confusion over Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team following another lacklustre performance over the weekend.
With fourteen wins in the Premier League this season, Ten Hag’s side have only managed to beat their opposition by more than one goal on two occasions all season.
Despite two early goals from Rasmus Højlund, United would not improve this worrying statistic over the weekend, beating Luton Town 2-1 in what was an underwhelming showing by the Red Devils.

Posting a story on his Instagram page, Scholes voiced his confusion over Ten Hag’s United team’s performance against Luton, issuing his thoughts: “Weird team Utd…Reckon they could be the only team that could win 5 nil and get hammered!!”
Discussing his former teammates’ thoughts on his podcast, Neville would admit that Scholes’ analysis of Ten Hag’s side was close to the truth.

Unbeaten in 2024, United have shown some signs of improvement, if not at the pace many fans of the club would hope.
As of the time of writing, United currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League, five points off fourth-placed Aston Villa with a significantly worse goal difference.
