Manchester United have learnt when Liam Delap is expected to make his final decision on his future amid transfer interest from various Premier League clubs.
Manchester United are planning to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window amid ongoing concerns over their lack of goals this season.
Alejandro Garnacho continues to show potential but still lacks consistent end product, while Rasmus Højlund is struggling to assert himself in the penalty area.
Liam Delap has emerged as the top target to lead the line next season. The Ipswich Town striker is expected to be available for £30 million due to a release clause that will become active when the club is inevitably relegated from the Premier League.
A product of Manchester City’s academy, Delap has registered 12 goals and two assists this campaign and United believe he has the potential to develop significantly at Old Trafford.
When Delap will make final transfer decision
United are planning to complete a move for Matheus Cunha early on in the transfer window and that would also be the preference for Delap.
However, the England youth international has attracted interest from various clubs in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Newcastle rumoured to be United’s main competition for the player.
Despite there being various options on the table, Delap does not want to waste any time in deciding his next club. David Ornstein has revealed that the 22-year-old wants to have everything finalised before the Under-21s European Championships this summer.
“I think Liam Delap will decided before the European Under-21s Championships on where he wants to go,” the reliable journalist stated on NBC Sport.
England’s first game at that competition comes on 12 June and so it is likely that United will find out Delap’s decision towards the beginning of that month.
United won’t be dragged into long transfer saga for Delap
It would be very useful if United can have two of their priority targets in the door by the start of June but it is also important that they don’t get dragged into long transfer sagas.
Chasing their striker target for the entire summer window only for him to join another club would be typical of the United of old, however, it seems like that won’t become the case with Delap.

Should he decide to join the club, United could move straight onto other potential targets early in the window. But if Delap looks elsewhere, there is more than enough time for the Reds to pivot to alternative targets.
After securing their forward signings, United are likely to try and bolster their midfield and wing-back positions for Amorim ahead of pre-season.
