Manchester United keen on signing £25m Brazilian midfielder who’s proven he can give Rúben Amorim what he needs

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing a £25 million Brazilian midfielder whose recent words prove he is up to the challenge under Rúben Amorim.

Rúben Amorim’s rebuild at Manchester United is off to a strong start, with the club finalising a £62.5 million deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves on the opening day of the transfer window.

On the second day, United received another boost as Bryan Mbeumo expressed his desire to join the club, despite interest from Newcastle, Arsenal, and Tottenham.

Bruno Fernandes has also made his intentions clear, rejecting a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal to remain at Old Trafford and be part of Amorim’s project.

United continue to pursue new signings, with a striker and a midfielder high on the agenda, although the identity of their midfield targets remains uncertain.

United keen on summer move for Sara

With a significant portion of United’s current summer budget allocated to reinvigorating the front line, the club will likely have less to spend on their back line than initially anticipated, meaning they may need to find budget-friendly options.

The club were recently alerted to the fact that Napoli’s Frank Anguissa is available for around £17 million this summer, despite having just won the Serie A title.

However, with Anguissa being 29 years old, United may opt for a younger midfielder. According to Fotomac, Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara is on their list as a player they are keen on.

The 25-year-old is also being chased by Manchester City, Inter Milan, and Leeds United, having signed for the Turkish side from Norwich City last summer.

The Brazilian, who Fotomac claim is available for around £25 million, played 45 times for Galatasaray last season, mainly as a central and defensive midfielder, scoring twice and providing ten assists.

Sara has shown he knows what it takes to play for United

The main question that has been on the lips of many United fans each time the club secure a new signing is whether they can cope with the demands that come with Old Trafford, and more often than not, the answer has been no.

However, with Sara playing in a title-winning side last campaign, he has explained that he can cope with the pressure of having to win every single week.

“This passion is different [in Turkey], because in England [with Norwich] I think after a draw or loss I have more time to fix things,” Sara explained to DHA earlier this month. “Here, you don’t have this time; you have to win all the time. I think that’s the big and main difference.”

United CEO Omar Berrada has been very clear that he aims to see the club lift their first Premier League trophy in well over a decade by the end of the 2027/28 season, so the club must be looking to sign players who can quickly adapt to life at United under Amorim.

Sara seems a player who understands and has experience playing in a side fighting for titles. With United signing players such as Cunha and Mbeumo in a similar age bracket, his move could be one to watch this summer.
