Manchester United fans praise unlikely “outstanding” hero after Luton win
Manchester United fans have praised Jonny Evans for his second-half performance against Luton Town after a Premier League victory on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United saw themselves win a fourth Premier League victory in a row after a Rasmus Højlund brace saw Erik ten Hag‘s men defeat Luton Town 2-1 away from home.
The match saw United take a 2-goal lead within 10 minutes of the fixture, but a Carlton Morris header shook the side, who were lucky not to concede again in the first half.

At half-time, Ten Hag oversaw three changes, with Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelöf, and Scott McTominay coming on to replace Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro, with the former and latter on yellow cards while Shaw sustained an injury.
Despite Højlund and Kobbie Mainoo being the obvious choices for United’s best players, many fans have drawn attention to the second-half display from Evans as a moment that deserves high praise.
“Jonny Evans has been outstanding for us when called upon,” one fan said. “Every time a ball was pumped into our box, he was clearing it. Bet he never expected to have as much game time. Colossal.”

Another said: “Jonny Evans was great coming in the second half. Did not put a foot wrong. Brilliant performance.”
“Jonny Evans sub was on the money from ten Hag,” a third explained. “He was vital to that win.”
With Lisandro Martínez injured until the beginning of April, Evans will likely still need to be relied upon until the season closes. His current contract is set to expire at the end of this year, but United are refusing to rule out extending it.
