Manchester United ‘join the race’ to sign Bundesliga star “primed for greatness” this summer

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign a Bundesliga star this summer who has been touted to be “primed for greatness”.

Manchester United is making headlines daily with their progress in the summer transfer window, following their recent move towards a Bundesliga star after making progress with Matheus Cunha this week.

Considering the squad issues for Rúben Amorim, United will seek reinforcements across all departments during the summer window.

While the Red Devils are already strong admirers of Eberechi Eze, various recent reports suggest that United have joined the race with Liverpool to secure the signature of a star Dutch midfielder.

However, one of the biggest hurdles for the Red Devils is that their target is receiving widespread attention from numerous top clubs.

United’s Interest on Leipzig’s Simons

While a former offer has not yet been sent to the Bundesliga club, Xavi Simons has a lot of attention from the Premier League.

The Red Devils and Liverpool are likely to offer him a way into the Premier League if the Dutchman considers a summer switch, with a report from Florian Plettenberg confirming so.

As per the German reporter, the star midfielder, who has been tipped as a player who is “primed for greatness,” is valued at around £68 million.

Even though he missed a couple of months due to injury, he managed to score ten goals and provide six assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Why United might quit the pursuit

As mentioned above, United are already eyeing a move for Eze, along with their pursuit to bring in multiple forwards.

Moreover, their hefty investment, which could possibly bring in Cunha, shuts the door for any potential Xavi Simons move.

As things stand, they are yet to look for a goalkeeper this window, along with making some defensive additions to the squad.

Considering all these factors, a Simons move is not a priority for Amorim, who aims to assemble the perfect squad that will enable him to secure a spot in the top four next season.
