Manchester United slammed for “mistake” transfer as Jadon Sancho wage split revealed
Manchester United have been slammed by an ex-player for Scott McTominay’s transfer as Jadon Sancho’s Chelsea wage split is revealed.
Manchester United‘s 2024 transfer window was extraordinarily active, resulting in a substantial reshuffle of players at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag bolstered his squad by signing five major players—Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte.

Simultaneously, the club bid farewell to several key figures, including Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, accumulating over £120 million in sales throughout the summer.
While the club have been praised for their overall behaviour regarding player sales, former United midfielder Nemanja Matic has slammed McTominay’s transfer to Napoli.
“My opinion is that Manchester United made a mistake by selling Scott McTominay,” Matic said on social media platform X.
“Today, it is difficult to replace a player like him. (Antonio) Conte is [a] smart man.”
Meanwhile, the vague split between Sancho’s wages at United and his new club, Chelsea, has been agreed upon following his loan with an obligation to buy.
According to The Guardian, during the season when Sancho will be on loan at the London club, Chelsea will cover “most of his salary,” which is estimated to sit at around £300k a week.
Chelsea’s obligation to buy will be triggered if they finish at least 14th in the Premier League table. The higher they finish in the competition, the more they will pay.
The fee starts at around £20 million and could rise to as much as £25 million depending on Chelsea and Sancho’s respective performances throughout the 2024/25 season.
