Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore’s absence has been explained following a “freak injury” he sustained in June.

Pre-season often allows for many young Manchester United stars to shine in front of fans when they otherwise would not, and this summer saw those such as Toby Collyer and Harry Amass wow fans.

However, last summer, midfielder Dan Gore, 19, showed fans the type of player he was, with many fans pointing to him as a potential future star of Old Trafford.

However, the following 2023/24 season did not quite pan out as planned. He joined Port Vale on a six-month loan, but he sustained an injury after just one appearance and did not play again.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, he was originally due to return to United and fly to the USA with the squad, but a “freak injury” during a personal training session in June denied him this chance.

Gore dislocated his shoulder and required surgery. He was then targeting a return to action in the early weeks of 2024/25, but with only a few weeks left of the transfer window, he is set to return to Carrington.

In order for Gore to maximise playing time and go on loan before 30 August, he would have to return to Carrington within the next two weeks, which is becoming “increasingly” unlikely.

The club will decide Gore’s next step with his long-term development in mind, and he may be forced to wait until the January transfer window to leave on loan again and experience more first-team football.
